Cordless Car Washers

Why the idea is so appealing

A cordless washer makes rinsing easier because it can draw from a bucket instead of stretching a garden hose. You still bring the water, charge the battery, and scrub stubborn dirt.

A bucket can sit beside a parked car, at a campsite, or near a bicycle. Put the filtered hose into the water and the battery-powered tool makes a controlled spray. There is no heavy pressure-washer cart to roll out and no garden hose stretched across the driveway.

That shortcut is genuinely useful for dust, salt, mud that has not baked on, camping gear, and quick rinses. The same small size explains why it cannot match a plug-in pressure washer on old grime.

THE TWO SENSIBLE U.S. CHOICES

WORX for value, DEWALT for an existing battery shelf

WORX includes the battery and the basic parts you need. DEWALT says it moves more water, but the cheaper-looking price is for the tool alone, with no battery or charger.

Cordless does not mean waterless

You need clean water in a bucket, bottle, or garden hose. Keep the filter under water and keep the tool within about 5 feet (1.5 m) above it. WORX says the water can take 20 to 30 seconds to reach the tool the first time.

Five gallons is one short wash, not a tiny reservoir

A five-gallon bucket gives about nine minutes of nonstop spray with WORX or about five minutes with DEWALT. Let go of the trigger while adding soap or wiping, and the water lasts longer.

Use the wider spray around paint and seals

Start with a wide spray, keep the nozzle moving, and avoid spraying a narrow jet into damaged paint, trim, electrical parts, or rubber seals. DEWALT includes a soap bottle; WORX sells its soap bottle separately. Rinse with clean water.

A good small-job tool, not a miniature miracle

Pick WORX when you want an affordable complete kit for quick rinses. Pick the DEWALT bare tool when its battery is already on your shelf. For a whole driveway, siding, or deeply stained concrete, rent or buy a real pressure washer instead.

Review highlights

Owners like how easy it is to carry to cars, patios, and outdoor gear. Most of that praise is about quick rinses, not heavy pressure-washing.

Reviews are mixed. People also mention weak pressure, short battery life, trouble drawing water, leaky connections, and some broken pumps. Some reviews are shared from other stores, and some came from people who received a free product.

Before you buy

  • It is a portable power cleaner, not a driveway pressure washer. The compact body is easy to carry, but the spray will not erase old concrete stains.
  • The standard WG620 kit does not include the WA4036 soap bottle. The bottle connector in the box carries clean water; it is not a foam cannon.

FOR EXISTING DEWALT BATTERY OWNERS

DEWALT DCPW550B

20V MAX · bare tool

DEWALT says it moves up to one gallon of water per minute, and the box includes a soap bottle. The linked price is for the tool only, so it makes the most sense when a compatible DEWALT battery and charger are already in the garage.

Useful when

Best for someone who already owns a compatible DEWALT 20V battery and wants the higher listed water flow.

Price depends on the battery

The linked product is the tool only. A kit with a battery and charger was about $267 when checked, so compare that total with a regular pressure washer before buying.

Review highlights

Owners most often like using it to rinse vehicles, screens, outdoor furniture, and equipment where a hose is hard to reach—especially if they already own DEWALT batteries.

Only about half recommend it. Weight with a battery, fast battery use, the plastic connector, and early failures recur alongside complaints that it is far weaker than a full pressure washer.

Before you buy

  • At 1.0 GPM, a five-gallon bucket can empty in about five minutes at full flow. Portability does not mean unlimited water.
  • Buying the battery-and-charger kit can move the total close to a conventional pressure washer, which is why the battery you already own matters.
